Week #4

Day 5

Isaiah 58 / Genesis 49-50 / Ephesians 3:14-21

Meditation:

Jacob is dead. And before you know it, you’ll be dead too. People will gather to remember you in a room and they’ll tell stories about you. Hopefully, they tell Isaiah 58 stories. Hopefully, they talk about how you didn’t just give God lip service. Hopefully, they talk about grace, generosity, and love.

And it is not too much to dream that they might write “here lies a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes”. Because that is what you are called to be and that is what you actually CAN be if you live a life guided by Isaiah 58.

Question:

“Who would be at my funeral and what would they say?”

Prayer:

God, it is hard for me to think about my death. I shy away from the responsibility of life most of the time and the thought of death just reinforces for me how I am not making the most of the time I have. So I thank you for your grace. I thank you for your direction. I thank you I don’t have to do all things. Help me to do those things which actually matter to You so that my life will actually matter to many.
